Existing HT Web site - 2006/07/08 09:09 I do not have a full picture about moving the existing HT site into the HT LIVE picture. A few ideas of how I expect to proceed.
1. Load old content into HT Live content for display
2. Keep existing site for events and introductions
Re:Existing HT Web site - 2006/07/08 10:03 Hi Rich, Great! Congrats on getting things moving!
Re: Old content in new site... Set up your Sections and Categories, then move the content into them, either as News items in the news system, or as Static content. (If you need input on determining factors, contact me.) Then make your menu items and link to them.
No need to keep the existing site, unless you have server side technology that can't be replicated in Joomla with a component or module.
If you make me an administrator, I can take a look around and advise/help you better. Also, if you send me your template index.php file, I'll see if I can fix the problem with the right module column getting pushed off-screen to the far right.
Best, Kimo
Re:Existing HT Web site - 2006/07/08 11:07 re: Moving - the issue is not the basics, it is how/who will deal with over 500 pages with a mix of pdf and images attached -- there are a few import tools, and the whole question of why bother.
This is task to be done largely using an import tool, and a helper who can only do html.
re: existing site: there is a different look and intent for the public face vs the active area. There is also the issues of maintaining proper functioning and the Joomla site does take server load (which can get heavy at times) while the static html only site works no matter what.
As for being admin, yes, once we review the goals more specifically offline
