Re:References to Joomla funcitions - 2006/07/08 10:16 Hi Rich,
Have you looked at the Community Builder component? It will allow you to set up profiles for HT members and look at them in a searchable directory.
Btw, it's really wierd that the current HT directory is only accessible by registered members. I never understood the reasoning for that. Wouldn't we want the general public to be able to find us and use our services?
For samples, go here:

re: the restricted access to directory, this has been a long going discussion where few people have the real details and risks -- I note your directories do have phone numbers but no email addresses. Also, what is your business model ?
I have been running public sites with 1000's of users and any openning to caputure email references or even open web site listings end up getting spam no end -- our community hates junk email and people drop off the mailing list even on very heavy discussions.
First off, let's be clear, the directory is avaiable without being registered or logged in, it is just not fully available.
Second, part of the goal is to get people into the community - even if they are not specifically HT companies - asking for registration is a small price to pay if they really want to communicate with HT companies. I can tell you from experience what the only preople who refuse to register are sales people whose only interest in the group is to market to the list.
Third, the directory is a key growth area for the HT Live site, and will be expanded and published in additional ways -- over time and with care, and in conjunction with an expanded series of membership offerings.
